§ 01 - Overview
A disposal issue can be mechanical, plumbing, or both.
The sink, drain, trap, dishwasher connection, mounting, and disposal unit all need to be considered before assuming the disposal alone is the problem.

Leaks can come from the disposal body, mounting assembly, drain connection, dishwasher connection, trap, or supply and drain plumbing nearby.
Sink still backs up
A disposal problem can also be a drain problem. If the sink is backing up, the drain path should be part of the conversation.

When to call about a garbage disposal.
Call when the disposal leaks, hums without spinning, trips repeatedly, smells bad, backs up the sink, or will not drain even after basic safe reset steps.
